Understanding the Rainbow - Color Theory with May Chappell

This class will be offered via Zoom so you can take it in the comfort of your own home.  If you are interested in joining the class at the shop, we may have limited space.  Please contact the shop.  You should have a computer that can access a zoom meeting.  Please log on 10 minutes early to make sure your zoom is working properly.

Join Lee Chappell from to dive into the basics of color theory to bring your fabric selection and quilting to the next level.

Are you intimidated by fabric selection? We will discuss the basics of color theory and how those concepts lead to better quilts! Students will leave armed with many tools for choosing fabrics. The lecture consists of a full trunk show exploring different aspects of color theory in quilts. The workshop will begin with a mini lecture. During the workshop, we make a dresden color wheel. Perfect for all level sewists.

Required Supplies:
- 35+ scraps that are 4x10” (dresden)
- 24” square of nuetral for the background
Additional Supplies:
- Assortment of Paint Chips (from the hardware store)
- Piecing Thread (Aurifil 50 wt recommended)
- Microtex Needle 70/10
- 18° Dresden Ruler (Creative Grid CGR18CF recommended)
Optional Supplies:
- Clover Wonderclips
Basic Sewing Supplies: Seam Ripper, Scissors, Pins, etc.
