Quilting with a Walking Foot

Join award winning quilter Sarah Ruiz as she teaches you how to use your walking foot to create stunning quilt designs on your home sewing machine.

Description:
This beginner-level class will cover everything you need to know to quilt your first (or fifth!) quilt on a domestic sewing machine! We will start by discussing helpful tips and tools to set yourself up for quilting success, and then consider different basting methods and the best ways to effectively mark your quilt top. After that, it's time for some quilting! We will practice several different machine quilting patterns including straight lines, curved/wavy lines, and spirals.
Materials:
- Sewing machine
- Walking foot (note: you can take this class without a walking foot to learn the techniques and still be successful, but a walking foot is highly recommended)
- (3) ~20" quilt sandwiches, preferably in a solid or nearly solid color so that markings and quilting thread will be visible (fat quarters and batting scraps are great for these)
- Contrasting thread that will be visible against your fabric
- Fabric marking tool (water-soluble pen, Hera marker, chalk, etc)
- Quilting ruler (6" x 24" recommended)
- Basic sewing supplies (extra thread, extra needles, thread snips, etc)
