Portrait Collage with Nicole
Do you have a portrait at home that is your absolute favorite to look at? What
about a landscape picture or your favorite vacationing spot? Now you can turn one of those pictures
into a fabric collage during class. Learn the ins-and-outs of fabric collaging techniques, all while
creating a unique, heirloom work of art for you or a loved one. You get to choose which portrait you
want to work on! This class will be fun, creative, and an adventure that you will want to continue
long after the class is over!

Class Supply List: (All supplies available in the shop for a 15% discount)
-To start, you will want to send the picture of your choosing to a local print shop. Choose your
poster size and print in black and white (I would suggest black and white over color and I’ll
explain while during the workshop). To start, I like to work with an 18” by 24”, or larger,
especially if you are doing a portrait of a person. This makes working with their facial
features a little easier.
-Depending on your poster size, you will need a minimum amount of three yards of Steam-a
Seam 2, but a safe amount would be six yards.
-I would recommend starting with a 18” by 24” size
-Pattern Ease- 1 yard (INCLUDED WITH CLASS)
-Karen Kay Buckley Scissors (blue handle)
-A variety of fabrics for background and portrait features. Look at the portrait you have chosen
and pic fabric based off of what you want to achieve. 1/8 to ¼ yards cuts should be sufficient
can never have enough. Grab from your stash too, and if you do not have enough fabrics
during the class, you can always grab some in the shop, plus some will be on hand for you and
available during the first class.
-Cutting mat, rotary cutter, fabric scissors and regular scissors
-Pencil and fine point sharpie
-Fabric pen
-Small iron and ironing board is not required but nice to have if there are several people in the
workshop
-Applique pressing sheet
***Batting and backing will not be needed during the class, but we will discuss completing the collage
***You will not need a sewing machine for this class
